Frequently asked questions

How do I get a price for Browan trackers in the UK?

Browan is quoted per part rather than listed at a fixed price, because the tracker build, the mounting and the order quantity all change the line price. All 8 Browan lines on the site show Request a price. Send the asset you need to track, the site and the quantity through the contact form and we return a UK price ex VAT with a confirmed lead time.

Which Browan tracker suits vehicles and outdoor plant?

The Industrial GPS Tracker pairs a high-resolution GNSS module with LoRaWAN and is rated IP66, so it holds up on bicycles, vehicles and outdoor plant, and its three-axis accelerometer means it reports on movement rather than on a fixed timer. The Rechargeable GPS Tracker, based on the Tabs Object Locator, is IP64 with a 540 mAh LiPo cell and USB-C charging.

What is the LoRa Edge Tracker and why does it last longer?

The LoRa Edge Tracker is built on the Semtech LR1110, which scans Wi-Fi MAC addresses and GNSS satellites but does not compute the fix on the device. It sends the raw scan over LoRaWAN and the cloud resolves the position. The radio is therefore on for a short burst, so battery life is much longer than a conventional GPS tracker doing its own fix.

Do the B-SAFE badges work for lone worker safety?

Yes. The LoRaWAN Smart Badge combines GPS, Wi-Fi, BLE and LoRaWAN for hybrid indoor and outdoor location, is IP67 rated, carries an emergency SOS button and runs up to 332 days on its 1500 mAh battery in LoRa-only mode. The GPS Smart Badge is IP65 and explosion-proof, adds fall detection, and gives up to 60 days of standby.

When should I use UWB tags instead of LoRaWAN trackers?

Use UWB where you need sub-30 cm accuracy inside a building, for example tool cribs, semiconductor lines, hospital equipment or stockrooms. The B-SAFE Asset Tags give 360 degree coverage up to 50 m and over 8 months on a 1000 mAh battery, with a G-sensor for auto sleep and wake. The card type version charges wirelessly and is rated IP65.

Do I need a LoRaWAN gateway as well as the trackers?

Yes. The LoRaWAN trackers and badges need EU868 coverage, and one private gateway usually covers a whole site. The Milesight UG63 mini gateway is £98.76 ex VAT, the semi-industrial UG65 is £279.82 and the outdoor IP67 UG67 is £658.39. UWB is different: those tags report to B-SAFE Data Collectors on PoE or DC 5V, not to a LoRaWAN gateway.
