Description
UC50x series is a multi-interface controller used for data acquisition from various sensors and
equipments. It contains different I/O interfaces such as analog input, digital input, digital output, serial
port and so on, which simplify the deployment and replacement of LoRaWAN® or cellular networks. UC50x series can be easily and quickly configured by NFC or wired USB port. For outdoor applications, it
provides flexible power like built-in solar panel or high-capacity battery and is equipped with an IP67-rated
enclosure and M12 connectors to protect itself from water and dust in harsh environments.

Which version do I need?
This is a UC50x family datasheet covering UC501 and UC502. UC502 is the primary-battery model: three replaceable 9000 mAh ER26500 Li-SOCl2 cells, Class A only, no multicast, and a wider -30°C to 70°C operating range. UC501 is the solar/rechargeable model with Class A and Class C plus multicast and a -20°C to 60°C range. The -868M part number is the 868 MHz build; UK LoRaWAN uses EU868, so -868M is the correct UK variant.
Typical applications for the UC502
- Cold-climate outdoor sensor collection below -20°C
- Smart agriculture and irrigation with SDI-12 probes
- Remote pulse counting from field meters
- 4-20 mA / 0-10 V transmitter backhaul over LoRaWAN
- Modbus RTU field equipment monitoring where solar is not viable
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same UC502 unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

UC502 — frequently asked questions
What batteries does the UC502 use?
Three replaceable 9000 mAh ER26500 Li-SOCl2 cells. It can also be powered from DC 5-24 V through the M12 connector.
Should I choose the UC502 or the UC501?
Choose the UC502 where there is no useful sunlight or where the site goes below -20°C: it uses replaceable primary cells and is rated -30°C to 70°C. Choose the UC501 for solar charging, Class C downlink control and multicast.
Does it support Class C?
No. The UC502 is OTAA/ABP Class A only. Class C and multicast are UC501 features.
Is it suitable for wet or buried locations?
The enclosure is IP68 rated at 1 m underwater for 7 days and uses M12 connectors, with a -30°C to 70°C operating range and 0-95% non-condensing humidity.
What sensor interfaces does it provide?
2 × GPIO, 2 × analogue inputs switchable between 4-20 mA and 0-10 V, one serial port switchable between RS232 and RS485 (Modbus RTU on RS485), and 1 × SDI-12 V1.4, plus 3.3 V and 5/9/12 V sensor power outputs.
