Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
The datasheet lists selectable bands CN470/IN865/EU868/RU864/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923-1&2&3&4; UK and EU LoRaWAN uses EU868, the band this -868M part is supplied on. The datasheet also marks the 4G LTE cellular interface as optional, so cellular and non-cellular builds exist.
Typical applications for the UG65-868M
- Smart office LoRaWAN coverage
- Smart building sensor networks
- Indoor sensor deployments across multiple floors
- Feeding LoRaWAN data into BMS or PLC via BACnet/IP or Modbus
- Sheltered outdoor coverage under eaves
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same UG65-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

UG65-868M — frequently asked questions
How many sensors can one UG65 handle?
Around 2000 Class A/B/C devices at a 10-minute uplink interval, over 8 half/full-duplex channels using the SX1302 LoRa chip.
Can the UG65 be mounted outside?
It is IP65 rated and Milesight describes it as suited to indoor use and to parts of outdoor environments such as eaves. It operates from -40°C to +70°C. For fully exposed outdoor mounting the IP67 UG67 is the outdoor model.
How is it powered?
Three options: DC 9-24 V through the 2.1 × 5.5 mm jack, 802.3af PoE over the RJ45 WAN port, or 5 V/1 A over USB Type-C. Typical consumption is 2.9 W, maximum 4.2 W.
Do I need an external antenna?
Not necessarily. It has two internal antennas plus one 50 Ω N-female external connector. An 18 cm LoRaWAN antenna is a listed accessory and a 60 cm fibreglass N-N antenna kit is optional.
Does it include a network server?
Yes, there is a built-in network server with the Milesight codec library, and it is also compatible with The Things Stack, ChirpStack, Actility and AWS. Data integrates via MQTT(s), HTTP(s), BACnet/IP, BACnet/SC, Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU over TCP.
