LoRaWAN Asset Trackers (UK)

Know where every asset and lone worker is, indoors and out

The short answer

What does a LoRaWAN asset tracker cost?

A Milesight AT101 outdoor asset tracker is £97.26 ex VAT. It fixes position by GPS outdoors and by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth indoors, where GPS fails, and runs years on one battery — so trailers, plant and cages stay visible across a yard without a powered install.

Last reviewed by Indiott (PSI Technologies Ltd)

Untracked assets walk off site, sit idle when another job needs them, or get hired-out and never logged back in, and GPS-only trackers go dark the moment kit moves into a yard, a building or a shipping container, while their batteries flatten in days. For staff and lone workers you also have to track people proportionately and lawfully. You need positioning that works indoors and outdoors, runs for years on a single charge, and reports over a network you can run yourself across a depot, a site or a whole town.

With the stack live
  • One live map of every trailer, generator, tool cage and tracked badge across yards, sites and the road, indoors and out
  • Multi-year battery life on LoRaWAN, so tags fitted to plant and assets are not a recharging chore that gets abandoned
  • Positioning that survives going indoors, GNSS outside, Wi-Fi sniffing and BLE for sheds, containers and buildings where GPS fails
  • Lone-worker and staff location handled proportionately, with movement and check-in data scoped to safety rather than surveillance

A trailer leaves the yard, tracked indoors and out

Every Indiott build runs all five layers as one accountable system. Follow a single geofence exit from the sensor that catches it to the report that proves it.

LoRaWAN asset trackers fix position by GNSS outdoors and Wi-Fi sniffing plus BLE indoors, so a trailer stays on the map inside a shed or container.

Hands a position to CONNECT

LoRaWAN gateways you own give long-range, low-power coverage across a depot, site or town, so years-of-battery tags report back with no per-tag SIM.

Hands a telemetry hop to SECURE

Where tags backhaul over public cellular, a VPN router isolates the tracking gateway and tunnels the fleet data encrypted so positions cross the network safely.

Hands a trusted feed to CONTROL

The stack is ready to act: remote IO can trigger a depot gate or floodlight when a geofence is breached, tying telematics to a physical response.

How teams start

From a single pilot to the whole portfolio

You do not boil the ocean. Nearly every rollout runs the same four moves, and you own a working, evidenced result at the end of the first one.

Scope & risk map

We walk the sites, list the assets and pin the one constraint that matters, then agree what a good result looks like before a single sensor is bought.

Pilot on one site

A focused set of sensors goes onto one site or asset group, live on our telemetry and dashboards, wired to the people who need the alert.

Validate & standardise

We tune thresholds, kill false positives, confirm the integration into your SCADA, BMS or CAFM, and write the standard design down so it repeats.

Scale the portfolio

The proven design rolls out across the estate, reusing the same hardware standards and data models so every site reads the same way.

Why Indiott

A specialist stack, not a box-shifter

Brand-agnostic by design

We pick the best of each brand for the layer and the environment, not one vendor catalogue. Milesight, AquaIoT, Atop, Browan, SpecSens and Urban.io, chosen on merit.

The whole stack, one supplier

Sensing, connectivity, OT security, control and the dashboard come from one accountable team, so there is no finger-pointing when something needs to talk to something else.

Specified and supported in Britain

UK-based engineers scope the site, quote the kit and stand behind it, with compliance mapped to the regimes your auditors actually cite.

Honest kit, honest pricing

Prices are shown where we can, quoted fast where we cannot, and you get a straight answer and a bill of materials within one working day.

Compliance this answers to

Standards this answers to
StandardWhat it requires
UK GDPR tracking staff and lone workers must be necessary and proportionate; we help you scope what is captured, justify it for safety and keep retention tight, rather than logging people by default
Low-power LoRaWAN multi-year battery life from devices designed for it, so an asset programme is sustainable instead of stalling on flat tags
Indoor + outdoor positioning GNSS outdoors with Wi-Fi sniffing and BLE indoors, so coverage does not collapse the moment an asset moves under a roof

What it costs, roughly

A starter asset-tracking programme, a couple of hundred LoRaWAN asset tags, the gateways to cover a depot and yard, and a mapping dashboard, typically lands in the mid four figures to low five figures depending on tag mix, how much area the gateways must cover, and whether lone-worker badges and indoor positioning are in scope. Rechargeable GPS trackers for high-value assets cost more per unit but suit fewer assets. Exact figures come back, against your asset count, site map and whether people-tracking is included, within one working day.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tracker fix position indoors and out?

The AT101 outdoor asset tracker (£97.26 ex VAT) uses GPS for outdoor location and can use Bluetooth beacons or Wi-Fi for approximate indoor position where satellites are blocked. It reports over LoRaWAN, so one gateway covers a large yard or site, and its IP67 rating suits plant, trailers and outdoor equipment.

How does the lone worker alarm work?

A worker carries the WS101 smart button (£35.91 ex VAT). A press sends an immediate alert over LoRaWAN to the platform, which notifies a supervisor or alarm receiving centre with the button and its last known location. It is a simple, rugged panic and check-in device for staff working alone or in remote areas.

What movement and tamper events can I detect?

Beyond location, the EM320-TILT tilt sensor (£62.85 ex VAT) flags when an asset is moved, tipped or its orientation changes, which is useful for gates, bins, equipment and anti-theft. Combined with the tracker geofence, you get both where an asset is and whether it has been disturbed or removed from a defined zone.

How long does the battery last between charges?

It depends on how often the tracker reports. Longer intervals, for example a few fixes a day on stored plant, give months of life, while frequent live tracking shortens it. LoRaWAN is low power, so trackers last far longer than a comparable 4G tracker at the same reporting rate. Reporting is configurable to balance battery against freshness.

Do I need a SIM and network for every device?

No. LoRaWAN devices connect through your own gateway, so there is no per-device SIM or airtime cost across a site or yard. A UG67 outdoor gateway is £658.39 ex VAT and covers several kilometres. For assets that leave your coverage entirely, cellular trackers exist, but on-site fleets are cheapest on private LoRaWAN.

Can location and alerts feed our existing systems?

Yes. The gateway forwards data north over MQTT or HTTP, so positions, geofence events and SOS alerts land in your own mapping, CMMS or security platform. You are not tied to one portal, and asset location sits alongside the rest of your operational data.
