Description
The EHG7305 is 5 Port PoE Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Switches designed to work in mission critical environments such as mining and heavy industry. EHG7305 support maximum 5 x 10/100/1000 Base-T(X) RJ45 ports, 1 x 100/1000 Base-F(x) SFP port . With its high performance and non-blocking switching capacity, the EHG7305 is able to fulfill the increasing demand in industrial networking. Its PoE capability of 30W per port up to four ports simplifies the wiring in complex fields, where every cable is an added cost. The equipped terminal block provide dual redundant power inputs with Reverse Polarity Protection and relay output which allows field engineers to build up a fault alarm system. Its IP30 housing protection, wide operating temperature of -40 to 70°C and DIN-Rail mounting capacities are liable to do most industrial field applications.

Which version do I need?
The suffixes are port and power options, not regional frequency bands, so there is no UK-specific version. EHG7305 (part 1P1EHG73050001G) is 5 x 10/100/1GTX RJ45 with no SFP; EHG7305-4PoE (1P1EHG73050002G) is the same plus 4 PoE ports. Step up to EHG7306-1SFP for one 100/1000 SFP uplink or EHG7307-2SFP for two - the datasheet notes 1000 Base-X SFP is only supported in EHG7307. The datasheet lists two chassis sizes (32 x 90 x 110 mm and 45.3 x 89.6 x 110 mm) and specifies wall-mount kit WMK-315-Black for EHG7305 only, with WMK-454-Black for EHG7305-4PoE, EHG7306 and EHG7307.
Typical applications for the EHG7305
- Mining and heavy industry networks in mission critical environments
- Railway rolling stock and trackside equipment (EN50155 / EN50121-4)
- Hazardous area installations rated UL C1D2 / ATEX Zone 2
- PROFINET industrial automation networks needing packet prioritisation
- Powering IP cameras and access points over PoE where cable runs are costly
- High altitude sites, certified to 4000 m

EHG7305 — frequently asked questions
How many PoE ports does the EHG7305 have and how much power per port?
Up to four 802.3af or 802.3at compliant PoE ports at 30 W per port, but only on the -4PoE ordering code. The plain EHG7305 has no PoE. Maximum system power consumption with PoE is 130 W at 2.6 A @ 51 V.
Does the EHG7305 have an SFP slot?
No. The EHG7305 is 5 x 10/100/1000 Base-T(X) RJ45 only. The EHG7306 adds one 100/1000 Base-F(x) SFP port and the EHG7307 adds two; the datasheet states 1000 Base-X SFP is only supported in EHG7307.
What input voltage does it need, and does that change if I use PoE?
Yes. The switch accepts 12-52 VDC through a terminal block with dual redundant inputs, but the datasheet specifies that 802.3af PoE output starts from 43 VDC input and 802.3at output starts from 51 VDC input, so a 51 VDC supply is needed for full PoE+ output.
Is it a managed switch?
No. The datasheet describes it as an Industrial PoE Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Switch. It does support 802.1Q/p QoS in hardware for prioritising critical packets such as PROFINET, plus 10K jumbo frames and 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet.
Is it certified for railway and trackside use?
Yes. The EHG7305 series is fully EN50155 certified and complies with essential sections of EN50121-4 for ground equipment, with EN50121-1 and EN50121-3-2 also listed. Shock, drop and vibration are tested to MIL-STD-810G (2014).
