Description

The ATOP ER5805 is an industrial Ethernet router built to segment, secure and scale wired networks in demanding environments. It provides NAT, routing and load balancing between network segments, giving machines, cells and sub-networks controlled, high-speed connectivity while keeping traffic and security boundaries clear. High EMC protection and wide-temperature operation suit factory floors, utility cabinets and outdoor enclosures, and advanced configuration options let engineers tailor routing, security and traffic policies to the site. Typical UK uses include machine-to-line segmentation, OT/IT boundary control and multi-site industrial networks. As part of ATOP’s wired router and NAT switch range, the ER5805 helps expand infrastructure without exposing it. Browse our NAT switches and wired routers.

Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.

Which version do I need?

Two part numbers: ER5805 (1P1ER580500001G, DC power only) and ER5805P (1P1ER5805P0001G, adds PoE). On the PoE version the router is a powered device (PoE PD, 802.3at, Mode A) on LAN4, giving the option of PoE or DC input for power redundancy. The datasheet marks IEC 62443-4-2 cybersecurity compliance as 'coming soon'.

Typical applications for the ER5805

  • High-speed internet access for industrial networks with load balancing
  • Site-to-site and remote-access VPN into plant networks
  • Firewall and zone isolation between OT networks and the internet
  • Multi-WAN failover for critical remote sites
  • Remote management of unmanned installations over SNMP/SSH
  • Fanless routing in extreme-temperature cabinets

ER5805 — frequently asked questions

How many WAN and LAN ports does the ER5805 have?

Five gigabit RJ-45 ports in total: 1 × WAN and 4 × LAN, all 10/100/1000BASE-TX. The datasheet also lists multi-WAN failover as a feature.

Which VPN protocols does it support?

The specification lists IPSEC, OPEN-VPN, LT2P (L2TP), PPTP Server and GRE. These sit alongside a firewall, access control list, port forwarding and attack prevention.

Can the ER5805 be powered over Ethernet?

Only the PoE version (ER5805P). It acts as a powered device to IEEE 802.3at, Mode A, on LAN4, and that model can take either PoE or DC input for power redundancy. The standard ER5805 is DC only, rated 12-48 V with a 10.8-52.8 V input range and a 3-pin terminal block.

Is it certified to IEC 62443?

Not yet. The feature list states 'IEC 62443-4-2 Cybersecurity Compliance' with an asterisk footnoted as 'Coming soon'. Confirmed approvals on the datasheet are IEC/EN 62368-1 safety and FCC Part 15 Subpart B Class A plus EN 55032/EN 55035 EMC.

How is it mounted and how big is it?

DIN-Rail or wall-mount using an optional kit. The metal, IP30-rated housing measures 145 × 120 × 46 mm and weighs 726 g, with a fanless design rated -40°C to +75°C.
