The ATOP EHG2008 is an unmanaged industrial Gigabit switch with 8 × 10/100/1000BASE-T(X) RJ45 ports in an IP30 plastic DIN-rail housing. It accepts 9-48 V on two redundant power inputs, reads the priority field in VLAN-tagged frames so that critical packets such as Profinet commands go first, and operates from 0 to +60°C in indoor control cabinets.

Description

EHG2008 is designed specifically for industrial applications in hazardous environments, offering 8 RJ-45 Gigabit ports as well as compliance with CE, FCC, UL, RoHS and REACH standards.

Reliable: Its two redundant power inputs can be connected simultaneously to wide-range DC power sources. If one of the power inputs fail, the other live source takes over automatically, preventing interruptions to critical operations.

Efficient: Although it is unmanaged, EHG2008 embeds an advanced Packet Prioritization feature. By reading the QoS field inside the VLAN tag of the packet, it prioritizes those packets that must reach the end device first. In Profinet-based Industrial Automation applications, for example, this feature helps ensure minimal delay on key commands, even during network congestion.

Which version do I need?

ATOP's documents list one orderable code, EHG2008, with no PoE, fibre or temperature variants. Its closest sibling is the EHG2308, which has the same 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports and packet prioritisation in an aluminium housing rated -10 to +70°C. Choose the EHG2008 for indoor or heated cabinets within 0 to +60°C, and the EHG2308 where the cabinet runs colder or hotter.

Typical applications for the EHG2008

  • Gigabit switching for PLCs, HMIs and industrial PCs in an indoor control cabinet
  • Profinet automation cells where key commands must be prioritised during congestion
  • Machine builder panels that need eight Gigabit ports without switch configuration
  • Building automation and plant-room panels with redundant DC supplies
  • Connecting IP cameras and recorders inside a heated equipment room

EHG2008 — frequently asked questions

How many ports does the EHG2008 have?

Eight 10/100/1000BASE-T(X) Gigabit RJ45 ports. It has no fibre or PoE ports.

How does an unmanaged switch prioritise Profinet traffic?

The EHG2008 reads the QoS field inside the VLAN tag of each packet and forwards higher-priority packets first. In Profinet networks this keeps delay on key commands low even during congestion, with no configuration required.

What power supply does it need?

9-48 V on two redundant power inputs that can be connected simultaneously. If one input fails, the other takes over automatically.

What is the difference between the EHG2008 and the EHG2308?

Both have 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports and 9-48 V redundant inputs. The EHG2008 has a plastic housing rated 0 to +60°C; the EHG2308 has an aluminium housing rated -10 to +70°C with storage to +85°C.

What is the operating temperature range?

0 to +60°C in operation and -40 to +60°C in storage.

Which approvals does it carry?

ATOP's selection guide ticks UL 62368-1 and EN 62368-1, and the switch complies with CE, FCC, UL, RoHS and REACH. The guide does not tick ATEX, UL Class I Div 2, E-Mark or EN 50155 for this model.
