Description
The ATOP SF63 is an industrial serial-to-fibre media converter that carries RS-232 and RS-422/485 serial signals over optical fibre, extending communications well beyond the limits of copper. It converts between 100BaseFX fibre and serial, using multi-mode SC or ST connectors for distances up to 2 km, or single-mode SC or ST for up to 30 km. Fibre also gives complete electrical isolation and immunity to the electromagnetic interference found around motors, drives and high-voltage plant. The rugged design is intended for harsh industrial environments and complies with FCC and CE standards. Which version do I need?
This page covers the SF63 series. ATOP's brochure lists four codes: SF63-TB-DB-1Fm-SC-2 (multi-mode, SC, 2 km), SF63-TB-DB-1Fs-SC-30 (single-mode, SC, 30 km), SF63-TB-DB-1Fm-ST-2 (multi-mode, ST, 2 km) and SF63-TB-DB-1Fs-ST-30 (single-mode, ST, 30 km). In the code, 1Fm means one multi-mode fibre port, 1Fs one single-mode port, and the final number is the maximum distance in km. Choose the fibre mode to match the cable already installed, or single-mode for runs over 2 km, and the connector to match your patch panel.
