Description
The ATOP MB5201 is an entry-level industrial Modbus gateway that connects serial field devices to Ethernet networks. It supports the four most common interfaces, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 and Ethernet, so you can bridge almost any serial meter, PLC or RTU onto a Modbus TCP network. A configuration utility lets you select the hardware interface and slot the gateway into existing communication infrastructure quickly, keeping commissioning simple. Industrial EMC protection and wide-temperature operation make it dependable in plant rooms, cabinets and utility sites rather than the office. Which version do I need?
Two ordering variants differ only by serial connector: MB5201-DB (1P1MB520100001G) with a male DB9, and MB5201-TB (1P1MB520100002G) with a 5-pin terminal block. On the Ethernet side it supports a maximum of 16 Modbus TCP clients and a maximum of 32 slave connections. On the serial side it has a single port, which can act as Modbus RTU/ASCII master or slave.
Does the single port do RS-422 and 4-wire RS-485?
Yes. The port is software-selectable between RS-232, RS-485 (2-wire and 4-wire) and RS-422. Baud rate is 1200 to 230,400 bps, and RS-485 4-wire allows up to 921,600 bps.
What power input does it take, and is it redundant?
