Which version do I need?
The PG5901B hardware comes in two versions: the DB9 version with one RS-232/485 port, and the TB14 I/O version with one RS-232/485 port, one RS-232-only port and 2 DI/2 DO. The protocol function is a separate software licence from ATOP's table, written front-end then back-end: the front-end is the slave or server that your SCADA, RTU or PLC master talks to, and the back-end is the master or client the gateway uses to poll field devices. For example, PG5901B with 04ES-MBSM presents an IEC 60870-5-104 server to the control centre over LTE and polls Modbus RTU devices on the serial port as master; 50ES-DNSM presents an IEC 61850 server and polls a serial DNP3 outstation as master. 38 of the table's 48 licences are offered on this platform; serial-to-serial pairs such as MBSS-DNSM are not listed, including on the I/O version. An optional full licence runs one or more protocols concurrently on both sides instead of a single pair.
