You will be able to choose among 8 different Layer-3 Routing Core versions (based on power supply and uplink port configurations) and five different 4/8-Port modules and customize your device in a very simple way.
Designed for PoE, in wide temperature: RHG7628 supports up to 24 Gigabit ports in any 8 or 4-port multiple configuration. Specifically designed for bringing power through Ethernet cable virtually anywhere, a maximum output Power over Ethernet of 720W over the 24 ports is allowed (PoE/PoE+ configuration – 802.3af/at).
Available in 3 power input variants, it is EN 60950-1:2006 certified and designed to handle the harshest environments. Its fanless design and EMC Level 3 protection guarantee operations within -40 and +75°C, with 24 PoE ports running full power and makes it suitable to be used for almost every application.
Powerul and versatile: RHG7628 supports IPv4 Static Routing, RIPv1/v2, OSPFv2, IGMP, IGMP Snooping, PIM Dense Mode and Sparse Mode, DVMRP and VRRP for Routing Redundancy. Then, it embeds all features of RHG7528 (layer-2 version), allowing (through ERPS) network self-recovery down to 20ms on full load. Almost any redundant ring topology is supported, such as ITU-T G.8032 RPS Ring, IEEE802.1D-2004 RSTP, STP, MSTP, MRP (Client), iA-Ring, iA-Chain and many compatible rings. Endless additional features are provided.
Automation and IoT ready: conforming with Profinet CC-B v2.33 makes RHG7628 the perfect candidate for being the backbone of your Industrial automation network.
The RHG7628 Series is fully EN50155-certified to ensure reliable performance under a variety of power supply conditions, such as voltage variations, power interruptions, and supply changeovers, and it complies with essential sections of EN50121-4 for ground equipment.
Secure: The first Industrial Managed Secure Switch! Protect your LAN from Eavesdropping and impesronation through 802.1AE MACsec. With no additional latency and 100% Gigabit Throughput guarantee, dedicated modules can provide you the internal ultimate security solution.

Which version do I need?
This page covers the RHG7628 series, which is ordered as a core (main unit) plus up to three modules. ATOP's brochure lists eight Layer 3 cores: RHG7628-CPU-4SFP-R, RHG7628-CPU-4SFP, RHG7628-CPU-4SFP-MR and RHG7628-CPU-4SFP-DC with 4 × GbE SFP uplinks, and the same four suffixes on RHG7628-CPU-410GSFP with 4 × 10 GbE SFP uplinks. The suffix sets the power arrangement: -R a redundant AC supply for the CPU board, no suffix a single AC supply for the CPU board, -MR a redundant AC/DC input for the power board, -DC a redundant DC supply. Modules (RHG7X28-): M1 8 × PoE/PoE+ RJ45 (240 W per module), M2 8 × non-PoE RJ45, M3 8 × 100/1000 SFP, M4 4 × MACsec RJ45, M5 4 × MACsec SFP. The Layer 2 sibling, RHG7528, takes the same modules except M4 and M5. Pick the 410GSFP core for a 10G backbone, a -R, -MR or -DC core for redundant power, and M1 modules for camera PoE.
Typical applications for the RHG7628
- Surveillance backbones powering up to 24 IP cameras from a 720 W PoE budget
- Railway station aggregation switches (EN 50155 / EN 50121-4)
- OSPF metro or campus networks over a 10 GbE fibre backbone
- MACsec-encrypted links to business-critical departments or control rooms
- Warehouse and plant backbones in redundant ERPS rings
- Layer 3 segmentation between factory cells and site IT

RHG7628 — frequently asked questions
How many ports can the RHG7628 take?
Up to 24 Gigabit ports on three module slots, using 8-port or 4-port modules, plus 4 uplink SFP slots on the core at 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps depending on the core version, for a maximum of 28 ports.
What is the PoE power budget?
Up to 24 ports of IEEE 802.3af/at PoE/PoE+ within a 720 W total budget. Each M1 PoE module provides 8 ports at up to 30 W (PoE+) or 15 W (PoE) with a 240 W module budget, so three M1 modules reach the full 720 W.
What routing does it support?
IPv4 and IPv6 static routing, RIPv1/v2, OSPFv2, BGP, PIM Dense and Sparse Mode, DVMRP, and VRRP for routing redundancy. The Layer 2 RHG7528 uses the same chassis and modules without routing or MACsec.
Which modules provide MACsec encryption?
The M4 (4 × RJ45) and M5 (4 × SFP) modules encrypt all their ports with hardware IEEE 802.1AE MACsec, with no added latency and full Gigabit throughput. ATOP's guide lists up to 4 MACsec ports per switch, and they work only on Layer 3 cores such as the RHG7628.
How fast does the ring recover?
Under 20 ms on full load with ITU-T G.8032 ERPS. STP, RSTP, MSTP, MRP (Manager/Client), iA-Ring and iA-Chain are also supported.
What power and temperature ratings apply?
ATOP's guide lists 48-57 V input (PoE from 48 V) with a 110-220 VAC high-voltage option; power redundancy depends on the core version. Operating temperature is -40 to +70°C and storage -40 to +85°C, in a fanless IP30 metal housing.
Which certifications does it hold?
ATOP's 2025 guide ticks EN 50155 / EN 50121-4 for railway and trackside use, and UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 and/or 62368-1 safety.
