Description
The ATOP MB5908A-CT is an eight-port, IEC 61850-3 certified industrial secure Modbus gateway built for electrical substations and other demanding power applications. It connects serial RS-232/485 field devices to Ethernet, mapping Modbus RTU and ASCII slaves onto Modbus TCP for SCADA and control systems. The rack-mount chassis offers a choice of DSub-9 or TB5 terminal-block serial connectors and dual power inputs for supply redundancy. Optional 3 kV serial isolation guards each port against surges and potential differences common in high-voltage environments. IEC 61850-3 compliance means it meets the EMC, vibration and temperature requirements for substation automation. Which version do I need?
This document covers the 8-port MB5908A-CT and the 16-port MB5916A-CT; the figures here are the 8-port MB5908A-CT. Part numbers are quoted by ATOP headquarters. Variants: MB5908A CT (DB9 serial), MB5908A-TB CT (terminal block), MB5908A-Sis CT (3 kV isolation, terminal block), the -6SFP equivalents with six SFP slots instead of six RJ45 ports, and -HV versions for redundant 100-240 VAC / 100-370 VDC input.
