And using the VirtualCOM software, Windows-based applications can access serial devices by mapping the virtual com ports to the SE5201 serial server series.

Which version do I need?
This page covers the SE5201 series, which ATOP's brochure lists as two codes: SE5201-DB with a DB9 serial connector and SE5201-TB with a TB5 terminal block. Both have one RS-232/422/485 port and one 10/100 RJ45 port, so pick on the connector your field cabling uses. What is the difference between the SE5201 and the SE5201C?
Both have one RS-232/422/485 port, one 10/100 RJ45 port, a 65 × 78 × 28 mm housing and a -40°C to +70°C rating. The SE5201 adds a 9-30 VDC input alongside 5 VDC with power redundancy and is ticked for industrial EMC protection; the SE5201C runs from 5 VDC only with semi-industrial EMC protection.
Does the SE5201 convert Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU?
ATOP's selection guide lists serial server modes for the SE5201 (TCP server, TCP client, UDP, VirtualCOM and Reverse Telnet) but no Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway function. For protocol conversion ATOP lists the MB5201 Modbus gateway, which also has one serial port and one RJ45 port.
