Description

ATOP’s EMG8610 IP67-rated Railway-compliant Ethernet switch is the best solution for providing high-speed Gigabit connectivity in bayside or carriage side Railway applications. Its rugged, aluminum enclosure can effectively protect the Switch core in any environment.

The 8-M12 Connectors Gigabit ports can supply up to 30W of PoE Power (802.3af or 802.3at) to your PoE device providing an overall maximum budget of 240W. This makes EMG8610 the ideal solution for on-board or off-board surveillance by simplifying the wiring where it’s difficult, risky and expensive to introduce new elements.

Two Gigabit SFP slots provide to EMG8610 Series the capability to be connected with Fiber-Optics to the backbone without the need of Copper Ethernet repeaters and without any risk of signal degradation.

The embedded redundant-power supply input provides a reliable and failure-proof safety mechanism to minimize down-times. EMG8610 comes in either redundant Low-Voltage DC power input (12~57 VDC, 47~57 VDC for PoE models) or in redundant High-Voltage DC power input (50~145 VDC). Each power module, including a Relay-output alarm, uses a S-coding M12 connector that makes EMG8610 ideal and simple for engineers setting up a Fault-Alarm System.

Its IP67 housing protection, combined with a wide operating temperature of -40 to 70°C and wall mounting capacities make it suitable to most Railway applications in harsh environments or industrial filed applications.

EMG8610 — frequently asked questions

What does the EMG8610 add over the EMG8608?

Fibre. The EMG8610 has two 1000BASE-X SFP slots alongside its 8 M12 copper ports, giving 10 ports in total; the EMG8608 has 8 M12 ports and its specification lists Fiber Optics Ports as 'No'. The datasheet says the SFP slots allow connection to the backbone without copper repeaters and without risk of signal degradation.

How much PoE power can it deliver?

Up to 30 W per port over IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at, with an overall maximum budget of 240 W. At full 802.3at load across 8 ports the system draws 5.03 A max. and 256.53 W from a 51-57 VDC supply.

What supply voltage do the PoE models need?

45~57 VDC for 802.3af mode and 51~57 VDC for 802.3at mode; non-PoE models take 12~57 VDC and the HV model 50~145 VDC. The datasheet notes 802.3af PoE output starts from 43 VDC input and 802.3at output from 51 VDC input.

Which railway standards is it certified to?

EN 50155, EN 50121-4, IEC 60571 and EN 45545-2 for rail traffic, plus UL/IEC/EN 61010-1 and UL/IEC (CB) 61010-2-201 for safety. The enclosure is IP67 rated according to EN 60529.

Does it route as well as switch?

Yes. It supports IPv4 unicast static routing, RIP v1/v2, OSPFv2 and BGPv4, multicast routing via DVMRP and PIM-DM/SM/SSM, and VRRP for routing redundancy.
