Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
The datasheet states global frequency support is achieved with different antennas, and lists CN470/IN865/EU868/RU864/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923-1&2&3&4. The -868M part is the EU868 build, which is the band UK LoRaWAN networks use; maximum output power on that band is 16 dBm.
Typical applications for the FT101-868M
- LoRaWAN coverage surveys before deployment
- Verifying gateway placement and site selection
- Packet loss troubleshooting on live networks
- GNSS-logged walk tests across a site
- Comparing the coverage of different gateways
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same FT101-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

FT101-868M — frequently asked questions
What does the FT101 actually measure?
RSSI and SNR of the gateway plus packet loss rate statistics between gateway and node, with GNSS positioning to record the location of each test point. Frequency channel, ADR, spreading factor and Tx power are all configurable for the test.
How long does it run on a charge?
Around 8 hours of use, with standby over 300 hours, from the built-in 4.3 V / 4300 mAh rechargeable lithium battery. It charges at 5 V / 2 A over USB Type-C, so a USB power bank keeps it going in the field.
Does it work with non-Milesight gateways?
Yes. It is compatible with any standard LoRaWAN gateway and global mainstream network servers, running LoRaWAN V1.0.3 in OTAA Class A on a single-channel SX1262 module.
How sensitive is the test radio?
-137 dBm at 125 kHz, SF12. Maximum output power is 16 dBm at 868 MHz, 19 dBm at 470 MHz and 22 dBm at 915 MHz, via a 50 Ω SMA female antenna connector.
Is it a full Android device?
Yes. It runs Android 12.0 on an octa-core MTK6762 at 2 GHz with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM, plus dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, a nano-SIM cellular modem, GNSS, NFC, a 13 MP camera and a microSD slot taking up to 256 GB.
