Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
Ordering PN suffixes documented in the datasheet: no suffix = G 1½" thread with internal antenna; EA = G 1½" thread with external antenna; NPT = NPT 1½" thread with internal antenna; EA-NPT = NPT 1½" thread with external antenna. The external-antenna version terminates in 1 × 50 Ω SMB male connector. LoRaWAN band is factory-set from CN470/IN865/EU868/RU864/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923-1&2&3&4; UK and EU deployments use EU868, which is the 868 code in this SKU. Note the datasheet also documents two siblings in the same document: EM410-RDL (LoRaWAN, no ATEX, -40°C~70°C, CE/FCC, and the only model supporting management and OTA upgrade via Milesight Development Platform) and EM410-RDL-L0CEU (cellular LTE CAT 1, 1 × Nano SIM, -35°C~70°C, CE).
Typical applications for the EM411-RDL
- Sewer level monitoring
- River and impounding reservoir level monitoring
- Storage tank level measurement
- High-salt-mist environments including seawater and high-concentration brine
- Hazardous liquid level monitoring in ATEX Zone 0 areas
- Corrosive-media level measurement (PVDF wetted housing)
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same EM411-RDL unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

EM411-RDL — frequently asked questions
What range can the EM411-RDL measure?
Detection distance is 0.3m to 12m with 1mm resolution. Accuracy is up to ±2mm against a perfectly smooth flat-surfaced solid or a still liquid surface, and up to ±5mm against a relatively smooth flat surface or a stable liquid surface.
How is the EM411-RDL different from the EM410-RDL in the same datasheet?
The EM411-RDL is the hazardous-area model: it is the only version marked Ex ia IIC T4 Ga and approved to ATEX Zone 0, with CE, FCC and ATEX (Zone 0) regulatory approval and an operating range of -20°C to 60°C. The EM410-RDL carries CE and FCC only, runs -40°C to 70°C, and is the only model that supports management and OTA upgrade via Milesight Development Platform.
Does the sensor have to touch the liquid?
No. It is a non-contact millimetre wave radar sensor operating at 60GHz with an 8° beam angle focused on the target fluid. It is not affected by dust, condensate, temperature or acoustic noise, and can measure hazardous or non-hazardous liquids.
How does it install on a tank?
Either wall bracket mounting or tank threaded installation. The thread is a hardware option of G 1½" or NPT 1½", designed for common tank installation without extra accessories. Internal-antenna and external-antenna versions are available.
How is it configured and powered, and what happens if the network drops?
Configuration is via mobile app over NFC or Bluetooth, or by downlink. Power is a single 19000 mAh ER34615 Li-SOCl2 battery. The device stores 2,000 historical records locally and supports data retransmission and data retrievability so readings are not lost during an outage.
How much does the Milesight EM411-RDL Radar Distance/Level Sensor cost in the UK?
The Milesight EM411-RDL Radar Distance/Level Sensor starts at £314.23 ex VAT from Indiott, with the exact figure depending on the variant you choose. Indiott is a UK distributor and invoices with VAT (PSI Technologies Ltd, VAT GB 730 2340 83). UK delivery is a flat £14.25 per order ex VAT, whatever the weight.
