Milesight WS501 / WS502 LoRaWAN Wall Switch
Authorised Milesight UK Distributor£44.89 ex VAT (£53.87 inc. VAT)
WS501 is a LoRaWAN wall switch for local and remote control of lights and electrical appliances. Its decisive difference from WS502 is the gang count: WS501 is 1-Gang, WS502 is 2-Gang. It requires a 3-wire (neutral) circuit, accepts 100~250 VAC, switches 10 A resistive or 5 A inductive per gang, and meters voltage, current, active power and kWh.

Description
The Milesight WS501 is a LoRaWAN® smart scene panel for wall-mounted, one-press control of lighting, HVAC and automation scenes across commercial and industrial buildings. Because it communicates over long-range, low-power LoRaWAN®, it can be retrofitted without new control wiring and paired with a Milesight gateway alongside your existing sensors.
Configurable buttons let facilities teams map each press to a scene or action, giving occupants a simple, reliable manual control layer in offices, meeting rooms, hotels and wider smart-building projects. As part of a Milesight LoRaWAN deployment, the WS501 helps bridge automated sensing with everyday human control from a single, tidy wall panel.

Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
868M denotes the EU868 LoRaWAN band, correct for the UK. WS501 has two part numbers: 3W-W11-EU (1-Gang, 86 mm square pattress box) and 3W-W12-US (1-Gang, 118/120 square pattress box); the datasheet does not name a UK back-box standard, so confirm the pattress size when ordering. NOTE for the site: the datasheet title and product name are "WS50x Wall Switch" — it is a mains-wired relay wall switch, not a battery scene/button panel, so the current slug wording "smart scene panel" does not match the manufacturer's own product category.
Typical applications for the Milesight WS501 / WS502 LoRaWAN Wall Switch
- Lighting control in offices
- Hotel room lighting and appliance control
- Museum and gallery lighting control
- Home appliance switching
- Per-circuit energy consumption metering
- Overcurrent protection on switched circuits
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same Milesight WS501 / WS502 LoRaWAN Wall Switch unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

Milesight WS501 / WS502 LoRaWAN Wall Switch — frequently asked questions
What is the difference between WS501 and WS502?
Gang count. WS501 is 1-Gang; WS502 is 2-Gang for an 86 mm square pattress box. Electrical ratings, radio and features are otherwise shared across the WS50x series.
Does the WS501 need a neutral wire?
Yes. The circuit type is 3-Wire (Neutral Required), so a neutral must be present at the switch position.
What load can the WS501 switch?
10 A per gang resistive or 5 A per gang inductive, with a 10 A total, and a rated load of max 1000 W per gang (0~2000 W total) at 100~250 VAC, 50~60 Hz. The terminal is SPST.
Does the WS501 measure energy use?
Yes. It reports voltage (VAC), current (mA), power factor (%), active power (W) and power consumption (kWh), with typical ±3% and maximum ±5% accuracy (±1% customizable).
Which back box does the WS501 fit?
Two part numbers are listed: 3W-W11-EU for an 86 mm square pattress box (86 × 86 × 40 mm) and 3W-W12-US for a 118/120 square pattress box (118 × 72 × 46.9 mm).
