SG50 is an energy-efficient solar LoRaWAN® gateway designed for outdoor environments with limited power availability and ample solar energy resources. With built-in batteries and accessorial solar panel, SG50 can work independently in various scenarios especially the place with hard access to power resource.
Besides the high adaptability, SG50 is highly compatible with mainstream network servers and support remote management via remote network servers which provides both convenience and secured management.
Benefiting from its robust structural design and high IP67 protection rate, SG50 can work smoothly in harsh environments. It is specifically tailored for applications such as oil and gas, mining, forestry, and remote industries where power consumption must be carefully managed.

Which version do I need?
The datasheet documents two cellular builds: L08GL (global except North America, LTE-FDD B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/66, LTE-TDD B34/38/39/40/41, GSM B2/3/5/8) and L09NA (North America). A UK buyer needs L08GL and the EU868 band. Solar panel options are SP1530 (30 W, default) and SP1545 (45 W). Note that AU915 and US915 do not support LBT.

Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same SG50-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

Around 2000 Class A/B/C devices as a packet forwarder, depending on uplink and downlink frequencies. If you use its own embedded network server instead of an external one, the limit is 100 devices.
How long does it run without sunlight?
Up to 4 days with 100 nodes reporting every 10 minutes, from the 3.6 V 25000 mAh 18650 backup batteries. Typical power consumption is 0.8 W. Figures are laboratory-tested guidelines.
Is the solar panel included?
The datasheet lists the solar panel as an accessory: SP1530 (default, 30 W max power, 15 V, 2 A) or SP1545 (optional, 45 W, 3 A). The batteries are charged through the M12 power connector only.
Which network servers does it work with?
Mainstream servers such as The Things Stack and ChirpStack, plus Milesight gateway embedded NS, DeviceHub LNS and Milesight Development Platform LNS. It also exposes an MQTT API for integration.
Is it suitable for harsh outdoor sites?
Yes. IP67 rated with a cast aluminium housing, -30°C to +70°C operating range and wall or pole mounting. Charging temperature is narrower at -20°C to +50°C.
