Milesight WS202 PIR & Light Sensor
Authorised Milesight UK Distributor£32.92 ex VAT (£39.50 inc. VAT)
The Milesight WS202 is a battery-powered LoRaWAN PIR and light sensor that reports motion or occupancy plus a bright/dark light status. Its decisive figure is PIR detection distance: maximum 8 m across a 120° horizontal, 100° vertical area. Use it for indoor occupancy in offices, schools, warehouses and homes, including triggering other devices directly via Milesight D2D.

Description
Milesight WS202 is a LoRa PIR sensor based on passive infrared
technology to detect a motion or occupancy. WS202 can detect
whether there is movement within the range of 6-8 m and send the
changes via LoRaWAN® network. Besides, WS202 equips with light
sensor which can link PIR detection results to trigger scenes. With
compact size and powered battery, WS202 is easy to install
everywhere. Compliant with Milesight LoRaWAN® gateway and
Milesight IoT Cloud solution, users can know the alarms or
occupancy of rooms and trigger other sensors or appliances easily
via webpage or mobile App remotely. WS202 can be widely used in smart homes, smart offices, schools, warehouses, etc.

Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
The datasheet lists selectable bands CN470/IN865/RU864/EU868/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923. UK and EU LoRaWAN uses EU868, the band this -868M part is supplied on, at 16 dBm transmit power; quoted battery life is the EU868 figure.
Typical applications for the WS202-868M
- Smart home occupancy detection
- Smart office lighting control
- School classroom occupancy
- Warehouse motion detection
- Occupancy-triggered scenes via Milesight D2D
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same WS202-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

WS202-868M — frequently asked questions
How far and how wide does the WS202 detect?
Maximum detection distance is 8 m, over a detection area of 120° horizontal and 100° vertical using passive infrared and a Fresnel lens.
What does the built-in light sensor actually report?
A Bright or Dark status rather than a lux figure. You set the threshold anywhere between 1 and 60000 lux and the sensor reports which side of it the light level falls.
What battery does it use and how long does it last?
One 1650 mAh ER14335 Li-SOCl2 battery. Milesight quotes around 4.2 years at SF7/EU868 and 2.4 years at SF10/EU868, based on a 30-minute interval plus 30 triggers per day at 25°C under laboratory conditions.
Can it switch a light without a gateway?
Yes. It is a Milesight D2D controller, which gives ultra-low latency direct control of other D2D devices without a gateway. It also works with standard LoRaWAN gateways and network servers.
Is it suitable for outdoor or damp areas?
No. It is IP30 rated, operating -20°C to 60°C at 0-90% RH non-condensing, and mounts on flat indoor surfaces with screws or 3M tape.
