Description
UC100 is an IoT controller used for remote control and data
acquisition from Modbus RS485 devices via LoRaWAN®
networks.
It can read up to 32 Modbus RTU devices and support
Modbus transparent transmission between server and RS485
devices as a Modbus to LoRaWAN® converter. Besides, UC100
supports multiple trigger conditions and actions which can work
autonomously even when the network dropped.
Combining with Milesight IoT Cloud solution, it can monitor and control remote
assets via web server or mobile App easily.
UC100 is widely used in indoor applications like smart metering, smart cities, building automation, etc.

Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
The -868M part number is the 868 MHz build; UK LoRaWAN uses EU868, so this is the correct UK variant. The datasheet also documents a UC100 (EA) external-antenna hardware option alongside the standard internal-antenna build.
Typical applications for the UC100
- Smart metering (reading Modbus meters over LoRaWAN)
- Building automation plant integration
- Modbus-to-LoRaWAN protocol conversion
- Smart city asset monitoring
- Remote control of RS485 equipment via downlink or D2D
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same UC100 unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

UC100 — frequently asked questions
How many Modbus devices can the UC100 read?
It supports reading 32 Modbus registers and can connect up to 32 Modbus RTU devices on its single RS485 port.
Does it need a LoRaWAN gateway?
It is compliant with standard LoRaWAN gateways and network servers and operates in Class C. It also supports the Milesight D2D protocol, which allows direct low-latency control between Milesight devices without a gateway.
How is the UC100 powered?
DC 5-24 V through the power connector, or DC 5 V/1 A through the USB Type-C port. Power consumption is under 0.5 W.
Can it be installed outdoors?
No. It is IP30 rated with an operating range of -20°C to 60°C, and the datasheet positions it for indoor applications such as smart metering, smart cities and building automation.
Can the firmware be updated remotely?
Yes. The UC100 supports Firmware Update Over the Air (FUOTA), plus configuration by USB Type-C or downlink.
