VS321 is a battery-powered LoRaWAN AI occupancy sensor for ceiling mounting at 2.4 m to 4 m, with an effective detection range of 6.0 m × 11.0 m at 4 m (optimal 4.6 m × 8.7 m) and detection accuracy up to 95%. It switches between people counting and desk occupancy modes and adds temperature, humidity and light sensing. No images are collected.

Which version do I need?
The frequency plan is fixed per part number. The -868M suffix is the EU868 band version, which is the one a UK buyer needs; quoted battery life at SF7 EU868 is around 11.3 years. Housing is white or black (optional).

Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same VS321-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

2.4 m to 4 m. At 2.4 m the effective range is 2.6 m × 5.0 m (optimal 1.4 m × 3.0 m); at 4 m it is 6.0 m × 11.0 m (optimal 4.6 m × 8.7 m). Milesight recommends >2.4 m for sedentary objects and >3 m for standing objects.
How long do the batteries last and can they be replaced?
It uses 4 × 2700 mAh ER14505 Li-SOCl2 replaceable batteries. Around 11.3 years at SF7 EU868 or around 7.5 years at SF10, tested at 8 hours per day, 5-minute detection and report interval, 25°C, under laboratory conditions.
Does it need room lighting to work?
Yes — required illumination is 50 Lux. It also carries a PIR sensor (115° measuring angle, 4 m radius at 3 m height) that triggers detection, and a photodiode light sensor reporting Bright/Dim.
Is it privacy safe for meeting rooms?
The datasheet states it is fully GDPR-compliant with no image collection.
What is the operating temperature range?
0°C to +30°C with 0-95% non-condensing humidity and IP30 protection — an indoor, conditioned-space device.
Does it require a gateway?
It is fully compatible with standard LoRaWAN gateways and network servers. It also acts as a Milesight D2D controller for direct device-to-device control without gateway dependency.
