What the rest of the UK market charges — and who won't say

Per-desk or per-zone — how to decide

Per-desk sensors give unarguable numbers — desk 4.12 was used 11 % of October — and validate desk-booking systems by catching book-and-no-show. Ceiling AI units cost more per device but cover ten-plus desks each, so above roughly eight desks per zone they win on cost and install effort. Most projects mix them: per-desk in contested neighbourhoods, zone units across the rest.

Buy the radar unit for meeting rooms rather than repurposing PIR: a motionless person on a video call defeats PIR within minutes, and phantom ‘free’ rooms destroy trust in the whole system. Whatever the mix, run desk occupancy sensors for at least one full quarter before acting on the data — utilisation has monthly rhythms that a two-week snapshot misses.
