Milesight VS360 IR Breakbeam People Counter
Authorised Milesight UK Distributor£127.19 ex VAT (£152.63 inc. VAT)
The Milesight VS360-868M is a LoRaWAN bi-directional people counter using IR breakbeam between a master device and a node device. The beam spans a detection range of 1.2 m to 3 m at an installation height of 0.7 m to 1.2 m, so it counts across doorways and corridors without being affected by ambient temperature or the colour of clothing.
Detection Range1.2 m ~ 3 m (installation height 0.7 m ~ 1.2 m)

Description
The VS360 is a people counting sensor that is based on IR Breakbeam technology.
Equipped with two devices, the principle is that the target blocks the infrared beam by detecting the area to achieve the purpose of counting, so it is not affected by the ambient temperature and the color of the target clothes, and it has strong adaptability. Adjusting the current of the node device reduces the power consumption and extends the battery
life.
As a Milesight D2D controller, the VS360 seamlessly communicates with other Milesight D2D agent devices, establishing more possible connections and paving the way for smoother operations. With easy configuration and wireless detection, the VS360 facilitates simple deployment and connectivity.
Compliant with the Milesight LoRaWAN® gateway and Milesight Development Platform, users can know the
number of passage people and trigger other sensors or appliances easily.

Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
The -868M part number is the 868 MHz build. The datasheet lists EU868 among the supported frequency plans and quotes 16 dBm Tx power at 868 MHz. UK LoRaWAN uses EU868, so -868M is the correct UK variant.
Typical applications for the VS360-868M
- Meeting room occupancy counting
- Escalator and corridor footfall counting
- Pop-up store and retail entrance footfall
- Bi-directional doorway people counting
- Triggering other Milesight devices via D2D on a footfall event
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same VS360-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

VS360-868M — frequently asked questions
How wide an opening can the VS360 cover?
The detection range between the master and node devices is 1.2 m to 3 m, mounted at a height of 0.7 m to 1.2 m. Milesight's stated accuracy test is performed at a 1.5 m detection range.
Is it one device or two?
Two. A master device (with an OLED screen, NFC configuration and the LoRaWAN radio) and a node device (with an LED indicator). Each takes its own pair of batteries.
Can it tell people entering from people leaving?
Yes, bi-directional counting is supported.
What batteries does it use and how long do they last?
Two 2700 mAh ER14505 Li-SOCl2 replaceable cells per device. The master lasts around 4 years at SF7 (EU868/US915) and the node around 3-4 years depending on traffic mode, at 12 working hours a day and 25°C.
Can it be used outdoors?
No. It is IP30 rated with an operating range of -20°C to 50°C, intended for indoor locations such as meeting rooms, escalators, pop-up stores and corridors.
