The Milesight WS203-868M is a LoRaWAN motion and temperature/humidity sensor. Description
The Milesight WS203 is an environmental monitoring device that
combines motion and temperature/humidity (TH) sensors. By
detecting motion within an 8-meter range based on passive infrared
(PIR) technology, the WS203 can trigger TH detection and periodically
report environmental status over LoRaWAN® network. With easy configuration and wireless detection, the WS203 offers a
reliable and convenient solution for space and TH optimization. Compatible with Milesight LoRaWAN® gateway and IoT Cloud
platform, it enables real-time monitoring of occupant status for
effective remote management. The WS203 can find applications in
various settings including smart offices, buildings, hospitals, and
more.

Which version do I need?
The -868M part number is the 868 MHz build. The datasheet lists EU868 among the supported frequency plans and quotes 16 dBm Tx power at 868 MHz. UK LoRaWAN uses EU868, so -868M is the correct UK variant. Interchangeable PIR covers are supplied to narrow the field: 120°×50°, 38°×50°, 38°×100° and 120°×100°, each rated to a maximum 6 m and a recommended 5 m at a 2 m wall-mount height.

Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same WS203-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

How far will the motion sensor detect?
The specification table gives a maximum PIR detection distance of 6 m over a 120° horizontal by 100° vertical area. At a 2 m wall-mounting height the recommended working distance is 5 m.
Can I narrow the detection field?
Yes. Different PIR covers are supplied, giving maximum areas of 120°×50°, 38°×50°, 38°×100° or 120°×100°, all to a maximum of 6 m. The covers can also be tailored as required.
How accurate are the temperature and humidity readings?
Temperature is typically ±0.3°C from -20°C to 0°C and ±0.2°C from 0°C to 60°C at 0.1°C resolution. Humidity is typically ±2% RH at 25°C across 0-100% RH at 0.5% RH resolution.
What battery does it use and how long does it last?
One 4000 mAh ER18505 Li-SOCl2 cell. Around 10.7 years at SF7 on EU868 or around 5.4 years at SF10, tested at a 30-minute report interval with 64 triggers a day and the LED disabled at 25°C.
Can it be fitted outdoors?
No. It is IP30 rated with an operating range of -20°C to +60°C, intended for indoor use such as offices, buildings and hospitals. It mounts with 3M tape or wall screws.
