LoRaWAN smart radiator thermostat (TRV), self-powered by thermal energy harvesting
WT102 is a LoRaWAN radiator thermostat that is self-powered by temperature difference, generating power thermoelectrically when water temperature exceeds 45°C, so no battery replacement or wired supply is required. It fits M30 × 1.5 mm valves, with RA, RAV, RAVL, Giacomini and M28 adapters available, measures -20°C to 60°C to ±0.5°C, and holds up to 16 heating plans.

Which version do I need?
The -868M suffix is the EU868 band version, which is the one a UK buyer needs; Tx power at 868 MHz is 16 dBm. Note the datasheet's frequency list for WT102 does not include CN470.
Typical applications for the WT102-868M
- Smart heating control in commercial buildings
- Domestic radiator control
- Schedule-based heating in offices and public buildings
- Freeze protection in unoccupied rooms
- Room-sensor-based control paired with the WT401 wireless thermostat
- Energy management retrofits on existing radiators
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same WT102-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

WT102-868M — frequently asked questions
Does WT102 need batteries?
No. It is self-powered by temperature difference — the datasheet notes that when water temperature exceeds 45°C the device is powered via the thermoelectric effect, eliminating battery replacement and wired power. A USB Type-C port provides 5V supply or charging.
Which radiator valves does it fit?
The default valve fitting is M30 × 1.5 mm. Metal adapters are supported for RA, RAV, RAVL, Giacomini and M28 (Comap, Herz, TA, Markaryd), and further adapters are customizable.
Can it control to room temperature rather than valve temperature?
Yes. It supports an external NTC sensor connected through the USB Type-C port, and it can work with the WT401 wireless thermostat for remote linkage control.
How does it avoid heating a room with an open window?
It supports open-window detection, plus freeze protection for low-temperature conditions. The datasheet notes abnormal temperature difference and extremely low temperatures trigger it quickly to adjust the valve opening.
Is it suitable for public buildings where people may tamper with it?
It supports a child-lock feature for tamper protection in public areas, and theft-deterring accessories are available for structural anti-theft protection.
How many heating schedules can it store?
Up to 16 heating plans within one preset date period, with 1,000 entries of local data storage plus data retransmission and retrievability.
