Which version do I need?
The -868M suffix is the LoRaWAN EU868 version, which is what a UK buyer needs. Internal-antenna and external-antenna (EA, 1 × 50 Ω SMB male connector) builds are a hardware option. A separate cellular version exists (LTE CAT 1, B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28 for EMEA/Australia/New Zealand) with -35°C to 70°C operating range and around 5 years battery life.
Typical applications for the EM410-RDL
- Sewer and drainage level monitoring
- River and watercourse level monitoring
- Impounding reservoir level measurement
- Storage tank level measurement (liquids)
- High-salt-mist environments including seawater and high-concentration brine
- Non-invasive monitoring of hazardous liquids
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same EM410-RDL unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

EM410-RDL — frequently asked questions
What is the measuring range and blind zone?
Detection distance is 0.3 m to 12 m with a small blind zone, 1 mm resolution and accuracy up to ±2 mm on a perfectly smooth flat solid or still liquid surface. A blind zone alarm fires when ranging results fall within the blind zone.
How narrow is the radar beam?
8°, which lets it be focused on the target fluid for accurate liquid-level measurement in tanks, chambers and manholes.
Can it be submerged?
It is IP68 rated, resistant in fresh water to a maximum depth of 1 m for up to 48 hours. That is flood tolerance, not permanent submersion.
How is it mounted on a tank?
Via the G1½" thread for common tank installation without extra accessories, or by wall bracket mounting. The housing is PVDF (UL94 V0) for corrosion, wear and compression resistance.
How long does the battery last?
One 19000 mAh ER34615 Li-SOCl2 battery gives around 7 years on the LoRaWAN version at a 15-minute collection interval and 1440 report interval, 25°C, under laboratory conditions.
Will dust, foam-free condensate or temperature affect readings?
The datasheet states measurement is not affected by dust, condensate, temperature or acoustic noise. A radar-echo curve check and one-click diagnostic are provided to calibrate the distance in difficult environments.
