The Milesight GS301 is a battery-powered LoRaWAN washroom odour detector that measures ammonia and hydrogen sulphide electrochemically, plus temperature and humidity. Detection ranges are 0 to 10 ppm NH3 and 0 to 5 ppm H2S. When a preset threshold is crossed it sounds a buzzer and lights an LED locally, and can trigger ventilation directly over Milesight D2D without a gateway.

Description
GS301 is a 4-in-1 LoRaWAN ® bathroom odor detector to detect ammonia (NH3) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas according to electrochemical principle. GS301 is also able to detect temperature and humidity to fully aware of the environment of bathrooms.
When the NH3 or H2S gas concentration reaches the preset threshold, the detector will
trigger both LED light alarm and buzzer to notify people timely to ventilate, which is an important part in smart bathroom solution. Apart from local alarms, GS301 can also report the sensor data and alarm messages remotely by the use of LoRaWAN ® technology.
Integrating with Milesight LoRaWAN ® gateway and Milesight IoT Cloud solution, users can monitor all the sensor data and control the device remotely and flexibly. Moreover, GS301 supports Milesight D2D to enable ultra-low latency control without gateways.

Which version do I need?
LoRaWAN frequency plan is set at manufacture. The datasheet lists CN470/IN865/RU864/EU868/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923-1&2&3&4; UK deployments need the EU868 build, quoted at 16 dBm transmit power.

Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same GS301 unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

What gases does the GS301 detect and over what range?
Ammonia (NH3) from 0 to 10 ppm at 0.01 ppm resolution and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from 0 to 5 ppm at 0.001 ppm resolution, both by solid polymer electrochemical sensing, with ± 5% FS accuracy between -40 and 35°C and less than 1% accuracy drift per month. It also reports temperature and humidity.
How long do the batteries and the gas sensor last?
Four 4000 mAh ER18505 Li-SOCl2 replaceable cells give around 3 years at a 10-minute reporting interval at 25°C. The electrochemical gas sensor itself is rated for more than 3 years of life expectancy.
Can it switch on an extractor fan without a gateway?
Yes. The GS301 supports Milesight D2D as a controller, which enables ultra-low-latency direct ventilation control without a gateway. For remote data reporting it still uses standard LoRaWAN Class A with a gateway and network server.
Does it alarm in the room itself?
Yes. It has a status/alarm LED and a buzzer, both triggered when the NH3 or H2S concentration reaches the preset threshold, so staff and occupants are notified locally as well as remotely.
Is it suitable for a wet washroom?
It has a damp-proof coating inside the device and is rated 0-95% RH non-condensing at -40°C to 55°C, wall screw mounted. Ingress protection is only IP30, so it must not be mounted where it can be sprayed or washed down.
