Description
Milesight WS301 simply enables you to know when someone enters the office/building through door/window or something has been moved.
The minimal magnet is placed inside the portable part, while the sensor is inside the fixed part that can be attached on door/window or other objects. With a style of minimalism and compact size, the wire-free WS301 can be easily mounted on the doors, panes, or cabinets, greatly providing real applications for smart homes, smart office or smart factories.
With LoRa technology, one of the most low power consumption technologies, Milesight WS301 can work up to almost 2 years without bothering to replace battery.
Compliant with Milesight LoRaWAN® gateway and Milesight IoT Cloud solution, WS301 will surely monitor the real-time open/close status and receive alarms

Specifications taken from the manufacturer datasheet.
Which version do I need?
The -868M part number is the 868 MHz build. The datasheet lists EU868 among the supported frequency plans and quotes 16 dBm Tx power at 868 MHz. UK LoRaWAN uses EU868, so -868M is the correct UK variant.
Typical applications for the WS301-868M
- Office and building door entry monitoring
- Window open/close monitoring for HVAC control
- Cabinet and cupboard access monitoring
- Asset movement detection on doors and panes
- Smart factory access and tamper alerting
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same WS301-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

WS301-868M — frequently asked questions
How big a gap can there be between the sensor and the magnet?
The detection distance is 20 mm. Beyond that gap the sensor reads the door or window as open.
Will it tell me if someone removes the sensor itself?
Yes. It has a tampering button and supports a tamper alarm alongside the open/close status alarm, with an LED indicating network status, open/close state, tamper and low battery.
How long does the battery last?
Around 6.8 years at SF7 on EU868 and around 4.2 years at SF10, tested at a 1080-minute reporting interval with 30 triggers per day at 25°C. The 1200 mAh ER14250 Li-SOCl2 cell is replaceable.
Can it be fitted outdoors or on an external gate?
No. It is IP20 rated with an operating range of -20°C to +60°C and ≤90% non-condensing humidity, so it is for indoor doors, windows and cabinets.
Does it need a gateway?
It works with standard LoRaWAN gateways and network servers in Class A. It also supports Milesight D2D, which lets it trigger other Milesight devices directly without a gateway.
