LoRaWAN pulse counter for retrofitting mechanical water meters. Dry-contact input to 2000 Hz, on-device consumption and flow/outage alarms, IP67, 5-year battery.

The EM300-DI is a LoRaWAN pulse counter that makes an existing mechanical water meter remotely readable. It has one dry-contact GPIO input, reads reed-switch and other passive pulse meters up to 2000 Hz with a minimum pulse width of 250 microseconds, and ships with a 1 m cable. It calculates consumption on the device and sends water flow and outage alarms, and stores 1,000 records with retransmission.

Description

DATASHEET

The Milesight EM300-DI is a LoRaWAN® pulse counter that turns an existing mechanical water meter into a remotely read one. A single dry-contact GPIO input reads reed-switch or any other passive pulse meter up to 2000 Hz with a 250 µs minimum pulse width, on a 1 m cable, and digital filtering rejects the interference that makes naïve pulse counting over-read.

It calculates consumption on the device and raises water-flow and outage alarms, stores 1,000 records with retransmission so a missed uplink is not a lost reading, and adds built-in temperature and humidity sensing for the environment around the meter. IP67, 4000 mAh replaceable battery quoted at 5 years, and Milesight D2D for direct device-to-device control without a gateway in the path.

Which version do I need?

The -868M suffix is the EU868 band, which is what UK LoRaWAN networks use. The battery is 4000 mAh as standard with an 8000 mAh version optional, and the 1 m pulse cable can be made to length — tell us the run you need.

Typical applications for the EM300-DI-868M

  • Retrofitting mechanical water meters for remote reading
  • Agricultural irrigation consumption monitoring
  • Industrial water use and sub-metering
  • Property and tenant meter reading
  • Leak detection via continuous-flow alarms

Frequency band

Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.

The same EM300-DI-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.

CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.
