Which version do I need?
The -868M suffix is the EU868 frequency build, which is the plan UK LoRaWAN networks use. The datasheet lists CN470/IN865/RU864/EU868/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923-1&2&3&4 and quotes 16 dBm transmit power at 868 MHz.
Typical applications for the EM500-CO2-868M
- Warehouse environment monitoring
- Basement and underground car park monitoring
- Smart agriculture
- Forest fire detection
- Smart building indoor air quality
Buying guides for this product
Frequency band
Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.
The same EM500-CO2-868M unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.
CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.
Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

EM500-CO2-868M — frequently asked questions
What is the CO2 measuring range and accuracy?
400 to 5000 ppm using an NDIR sensor, accurate to ± (30 ppm + 3% of reading) between 0°C and 50°C at 0-85% RH, with 1 ppm resolution.
How long does the battery last and can it be replaced?
One replaceable 19000 mAh ER34615 Li-SOCl2 cell, quoted at 10 years with a 10-minute reporting interval at 25°C. That figure is tested under laboratory conditions and given for guideline purposes.
Can the EM500-CO2 be used outdoors?
Yes. The enclosure is IP65 waterproof and it is rated -30°C to +70°C at 0-95% RH non-condensing. It mounts on a pole, wall or DIN rail, and Milesight lists uses such as underground parking and forest fire detection.
Does it need a gateway?
Yes. It uses standard LoRaWAN in OTAA/ABP Class A with line-of-sight range up to 10 km, and works with standard LoRaWAN gateways and network servers as well as Milesight IoT Cloud and the Milesight Development Platform.
What happens if the network goes down?
It stores 1,000 entries locally and supports data retransmission and data retrievability, so readings taken while the link was down can be recovered once it returns. Threshold alarms and calibration are also supported.
