AM103 is a Milesight LoRaWAN indoor ambience monitoring sensor measuring temperature, humidity and CO2, with NDIR CO2 sensing from 400 to 5000 ppm at ±(30 ppm + 3% of reading). The decisive difference from the AM103L is the display: the AM103 carries a 2.13-inch black and white E-Ink screen, which the AM103L does not support. A traffic light indicator shows multi-level CO2 threshold alarms.

Description

DATASHEET

AM103 is a compact indoor ambience monitoring sensor for measurement of temperature, humidity and CO2. These data will be shown on the E-ink screen in real-time, which allow to quantify the indoor environment and comfort. AM103 is widely used for office, store, classroom, hospital, etc.

Apart from screen display, sensor data can also be transmitted using LoRaWAN ®. With this low-power technology, AM103 can work for more than 3 years with 2 replaceable batteries.

Combining with Milesight LoRaWAN ® gateway and Milesight IoT Cloud solution, users can manage all sensor remotely and visually.

• Features
• Integrated with multiple sensors like humidity, temperature and CO2
• Visual data and clear emoticon to understand the comfort level easily via E-ink screen
• Smart hibernate mode schedulely to save battery power
• Equipped with traffic light indicator to indicate multi-level CO2 threshold alarms
• More than 3 years work without replacing batteries
• Store locally 560 historical records and support retransmission to prevent data loss
• Built-in NFC for easy configuration
• Compliant with standard LoRaWAN® gateways • Quick and easy management with Milesight IoT Cloud solution

Which version do I need?

The datasheet lists CN470, IN865, RU864, EU868, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923-1&2&3&4 frequency variants; EU868 is the correct LoRaWAN band for the UK. The "L" suffix (AM103L) denotes the same sensor set without the E-Ink screen.

Typical applications for the AM103

  • Office CO2 and ventilation monitoring
  • Classroom air quality and occupancy comfort
  • Retail store indoor environment monitoring
  • Hospital and clinic room monitoring
  • Meeting room ventilation compliance
  • Building management indoor air quality dashboards

Frequency band

Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.

The same AM103 unit also covers IN865 and RU864. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.

CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

Not sure which band applies where? The Things Network publishes the LoRaWAN frequency plan for every country.

AM103 — frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the AM103 and the AM103L?

The display. The AM103 has a 2.13-inch black and white E-Ink screen showing readings and a comfort emoticon; the datasheet lists the AM103L as "Not Support" for display. The screenless AM103L lasts slightly longer on the same batteries (around 5 years at SF7 versus around 4.5 years for the AM103).

What CO2 range and accuracy does the AM103 offer?

Nondispersive infrared (NDIR) sensing from 400 to 5000 ppm, accurate to ±(30 ppm + 3% of reading) between 0°C and +50°C, at 1 ppm resolution. Calibration is supported as an advanced feature.

How does the AM103 warn occupants about poor air quality?

It has a traffic light status indicator driven by multi-level CO2 threshold alarms, plus the E-Ink screen's comfort emoticon, so a room's air quality can be read at a glance without opening a dashboard.

How long does the AM103 run on batteries?

With a 10-minute reporting interval at 25°C, around 4.5 years at SF7 on EU868 and US915, around 3 years at SF10 on EU868, and around 2.3 years at SF10 on US915. Power is two 2700 mAh ER14505 Li-SOCl2 replaceable batteries. Battery life is a laboratory figure for guideline purposes only.

What happens to readings if the LoRaWAN network is unavailable?

The AM103 stores 640 entries locally and supports data retrievability and data retransmission, so historical records can be recovered after a gateway or network server outage.

How much does the Milesight AM103 / AM103L Indoor Ambience Monitoring Sensor cost in the UK?

The Milesight AM103 / AM103L Indoor Ambience Monitoring Sensor starts at £127.19 ex VAT from Indiott, with the exact figure depending on the variant you choose. Indiott is a UK distributor and invoices with VAT (PSI Technologies Ltd, VAT GB 730 2340 83). UK delivery is a flat £14.25 per order ex VAT, whatever the weight.
