The decisive difference within the AM30x range is the display: the AM308L has no E-Ink screen, while the AM307 and AM308 carry a 4.2-inch black & white E-Ink screen.

Which version do I need?

The AM30x datasheet specifies two model columns. AM307 has no PM2.5/PM10 sensor (that block is dashed out in its column) and weighs 182.5 g with batteries; AM308(L) adds laser-scattering PM2.5/PM10 and weighs 222.6 g. The trailing "L" removes the screen: AM307 and AM308 have the 4.2-inch black & white E-Ink screen, AM308L does not. Frequency variants listed are CN470/RU864/IN865/EU868/US915/AU915/KR920/AS923-1&2&3&4; the -868M suffix on this SKU is the EU868 band, the correct LoRaWAN band for the UK, at 16 dBm Tx power.

Frequency band

Supplied on EU868, the LoRaWAN band used in the UK and across Europe. That is the default and you do not need to ask for it — the -868M in the part number is the EU868 build.

The same AM308L-868M unit also covers RU864 and IN865. Those bands share the 863–870 MHz radio with EU868, so one device can be set to any of them in its own configuration — no different part number needed.

CN470, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923 are a different radio and therefore a different build. Milesight makes them and we can order them: tell us where the devices are being deployed and we will confirm the part number, price and lead time.

AM308L-868M — frequently asked questions

Does the AM308L have a screen?

No. The datasheet's Display row reads "AM307 & AM308: 4.2-inch Black & White E-Ink Screen / AM308L: Not Support". The AM308L still has the traffic light status indicator and buzzer for device status and threshold alarms, but readings are viewed over LoRaWAN. Order the AM308 if the on-wall E-Ink display is required.

What is the difference between the AM307 and the AM308L?

Two things in the datasheet. First, particulates: the PM2.5 & PM10 block is dashed out for AM307 and populated for AM308(L) with laser scattering, 0 to 1000 μg/m3, ±10 μg/m3 from 0-100 and ±10% from 100-1000. Second, the display: AM307 has the 4.2-inch E-Ink screen, AM308L has none.

How accurate is the CO2 measurement?

The CO2 sensor is NDIR (nondispersive infrared) with a range of 400 to 5000 ppm, accuracy ±(30 ppm + 3% of reading) between 0°C and 50°C at 0% to 85% RH, and 1 ppm resolution. Calibration is listed among the device's advanced features.

How is the AM308L powered, and how long does it run on batteries?

It takes either 4 × 2700 mAh ER14505 Li-SOCl2 replaceable batteries or 5V/1A through the Type-C port. In the AM308(L) column the datasheet quotes around 1.3 years at SF7 (EU868 & US915), around 1.2 years at SF10 (EU868) and around 1 year at SF10 (US915), at a 10 minute interval and 25°C, laboratory-tested for guideline purposes only. Type-C power removes the battery-life constraint.

What area does the built-in motion sensor cover?

The passive infrared (PIR) sensor covers 80° horizontally and 55° vertically to a range of 5 m, and reports status as Vacant or Occupied. Paired with the CO2, TVOC and particulate readings, this lets one device report both occupancy and the air quality that occupancy produces.
