Outdoor cabinets hold the equipment that keeps a site running: controllers, routers, power supplies, telemetry. They fail from three causes nobody sees: a door left open, heat building up in summer and condensation in winter. The EM300-MCS catches all three in one sealed unit, because it carries a temperature and humidity sensor alongside its door contact.

The UG67 gateway is IP67 and rated from -40°C to 70°C, with 4G built in, so it can go on a mast or a wall in the open.

Sizing it for your site

  1. One sensor per cabinet door. A cabinet with front and rear doors needs two.
  2. One UG67 covers cabinets within radio range of a mast. Across a large yard or a stretch of roadside, test the furthest cabinet first.
  3. For a single isolated cabinet with no other equipment nearby, a TS601 cellular sensor reports temperature, humidity and door opening by light level without any gateway.
  4. Add a leak sensor in cabinets at ground level that have flooded before.

What this kit will not do

  • Steel cabinets weaken radio. Check the signal from inside a closed cabinet before fitting all six; one that fails needs the gateway closer or a different mounting position.
  • It does not detect power failure inside the cabinet. That needs a controller input, such as the UC300, wired to a supply monitor.
  • The magnet must sit within 20 to 30 mm of the sensor when the door is closed, so doors with a loose fit need a bracket.
  • The UG67 needs a SIM with a data plan and either PoE or a 6 to 12 V DC supply.

Setting it up

  1. Mount the gateway high. On a mast or wall with a clear view over the cabinets, powered by PoE or DC, with a SIM fitted.
  2. Test one cabinet. Join a sensor with a phone running Milesight's configuration app, close the cabinet and confirm readings arrive.
  3. Fit the rest. Transceiver on the cabinet wall, magnet on the door, cable routed away from terminals.
  4. Set the alerts. Door open outside maintenance windows, high internal temperature in summer, and humidity that stays high.
  5. Record the baseline. A month of readings shows which cabinets run hot or damp and need ventilation or heaters.

Before you order

Why not a separate temperature sensor in each cabinet?

Because the EM300-MCS already contains one. Each unit reports door state, temperature and humidity, which halves the number of devices per cabinet.

How far apart can the cabinets be?

Milesight quotes up to 10 km line of sight for the EM300-MCS, but buildings, trees and the steel of the cabinet cut that sharply. Plan on hundreds of metres and test before committing.

What about a cabinet on its own miles away?

Use a TS601 cellular sensor. It sends over LTE with no gateway, and detects the door opening by the change in light inside a dark cabinet.

How long do the batteries last?

Over 10 years at a 10 minute interval with a strong signal and 48 door events a day, and around 4.5 years at the edge of range.
